The
Linnaean
Society of New York was organized in 1878 by a group of
amateurs dedicated to ornithology and natural science. Members share an
active interest in
observing and learning about the natural environment of New York, with
a
particular emphasis on the resident and migratory birdlife of the area.

Rare
Bird Alerts
The
Society, together with the National Audubon Society, also
co-sponsors current rare bird alerts (RBA's). The alerts describe
unusual bird sightings in the Greater New York area on a regularly
updated recorded telephone message at: (212) 979-3070.
